October’s – Member of the Month

Congratulations to October’s Member of the Month- JACKIE COTA! We love Jackie’s energy for life and the positivity she brings with her to every class. She was a huge winner in the 2018 “Make Your Body Great Again” Nutrition challenge, and has continued to impress us ever since. She is usually smiling and brings optimism to every workout (she doesn’t even grumble about running as much anymore!). She is easy to coach and is learning that she is stronger than she thinks. We love how much motivation she has to live a healthier life, and are so happy she chose us to help her along that path.
  1. When did you start CrossFit? Right before Memorial Day 2017… and I said no to Murph .. but I got serious about it, January 2018

Why did you start CrossFit? My oldest daughter Amanda and her husband convinced me that it was exactly the type of ‘workout’ I would really enjoy PLUS they promised me the workouts would be scaled to my ability.. and they were 100% correct…. but the REASON I joined is because I was very concerned about my health, heart disease and diabetes etc. I needed a community of awesomeness to motivate me to get up off my ass and do something about it.. and I found i

  4. When is your birthday? October 26… and YES… I AM a Scorpio… totally…
  5. What would you sing at karaoke? oh dude.. hands down Janis Joplin “Bobby McGee”…
  6. What is your favorite cheat meal? One dozen glazed donut holes from Donut Wheel…you said meal…
  7. List your 3 best personality traits: Brutally honest… don’t ask me if you really don’t want to know! Ethical… Moral…  I always do the RIGHT thing.. even if I don’t want to..
  8. List your 3 worst personality traits: I can talk WAY too much I often decide NOT to filter exactly what I am thinking.. I just say it… sorry! NOT sorry! Curse like a sailor…
  9. What is your favorite movie quote? “You can’t handle the truth!”
  10. What is your best hidden talent? I can whistle like a dude.. no fingers.. real loud.. worked real hard at copying my daddy.. very proud of that.. and yes.. I can do the Steve Miller Band “Jungle Love” whistle.. did I just age myself?
  11. What would be your favorite CrossFit workout? I’ve been eyeballing Cindy .. she’s looking good.. I don’t think I’ve given her a go..  I know it sounds crazy but when we do burpees it makes me happy.. they are such an overall workout I’m looking forward to the day I can master the burpees and not feel like a limp noodle doing them.
  12. What is your least CrossFit workout? Every single one that has more than a 200m run.. I have asthma so I hate running, I like breathing… in fact someone said to me one day, “life isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon” and I replied.. “I don’t think you know how much I hate running”… trust me…you’ll see me grumbling about it..
  13. What does CFL mean to you? CFL means a community of awesome people that I can workout with and they treat me like family. When I first emailed Matt inquiring about Crossfit, I had a panic attack. Crossfit Livermore has done more for me than just fitness.. it has helped my mental and physical fitness. The guidance, coaching, community and camaraderie is an invaluable top tier part of my week and I for one thank God I found you all…
