October- Member of the month

Birthday boy TOM VIERRA is our October Member of the Month! We love selecting one of our special members for MOM to let everyone learn a little bit more about each other. We’ve all heard it, but the community at CrossFit Livermore is something incredibly special and unique, and we love highlighting some of the people who make it that way.
If you’re new to CFL you might confuse Tom with his twin Brother, Coach Tim. Even their daughters look alike! Tom is a great friend and has been apart of CFL for almost 4 years now. He has continued to challenge himself and get much fitter along the way. He killed the weightloss challenge last year, and continues to focus on consistency in the gym while balancing work and family life. Tom is always there to lend an ear, and is self proclaimed OCD (not like we didn’t already know that about his twin brother or anything!…). Tom has been a staple in the family of CFL and his kind heart and generosity has brought him many great friendships. We are very happy to have Tom, wife Anissa, and everyones favorite girl Kamryn with us at CrossFit Livermore. We look forward to many more years with the Vierra family! 

When did you start CrossFit?: I started Crossfit at CFL in Nov. 2013

What class do you frequently go to: I usually go to 6:30pm, 3 times a week and 9am on Saturdays

When is your birthday?: October 6, 1974

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be?: Harrison Ford, because he has his pilots license and can fly wherever he wants

What’s something you’re really good at, but sort of embarrassed that you are really good at?: The ability to drive a forklift like a race car!

What’s something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get why?: Pokémon, don’t get it one bit!

What are your 3 best personality traits?:  perfectionist, reliable and borderline OCD

What are you 3 worst personality traits?:  impatient, temperamental and borderline OCD

What would be your favorite CrossFit workout? Favorite workouts are anything with cleans or deadlifts 

Least favorite workout?: Anything with overhead barbell movements, as I have dropped a 135# barbell on my head before in a workout

What does CFL mean to you?: CFL means to me, a way to become a better, healthier me. I was not proud of myself at my 20 yr high school reunion. I had become sedentary, and was headed toward a lifestyle that I had seen both my parents live for a long time. With the fear of becoming diabetic, and a whole lot of asking by my brother, I finally started at CFL.  It was hard at first, but with great guidance from all the coaches, and a lot of hard work, I have achieved more things in my 40’s than I ever did when I was younger. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work out with. I have made many friends along the way, from the coaches, to the other members as well. It is something that I wish I would of discovered when I was in my 20’s. CFL is my second family!!
